The brain, hormones, and strong emotions
How do hormones affect our brain activity? Are the emotions we feel, such as love, joy, satisfaction or jealousy, and hatred, controlled by different levels of hormones in the brain? How does the increase in sex hormones during puberty affect the final maturation of the brain? Can it be controlled, or is it genetic?
Can oxytocin, "the love hormone," make us more sociable, coachable, and happy? Will we take pills in the future to strengthen or weaken certain emotions?
Do neuroscientists have tools to study our emotions, or is this an exclusive field of psychology?
